Hello and welcome to another edition of the Wop Devotional. We have had to make some changes and instead of a weekly devotional , the Wop Devotional is now going to be a biweekly devotional. We are grateful to God Almighty for allowing us to see the third month of the year, Glory Hallelujah! May He continue to protect us all in Jesus’ mighty name. You will need your bible ,a journal / notebook /diary / pens and markers. This month is our month of Restoration , If you haven’t taken the prayer challenge kindly do so here , and our bible plan has been amazing too. Our devotional today is going to focus on the Confident Woman.
What is confidence? I ask; I believe confidence is being positive and proud of what you can do and not worrying about or over what you can not do. When one is confident, you are open to learning and exploring new opportunities; because you know that confidence allows you to walk through life’s doors eager to discover what comes next. (Psalm 118:8 - “It is better to trust in the LORD than to put confidence in man”). Being confident gives you the excitement that allows you to learn more about yourself and what you can do; discovering new abilities along the way. Confident people do not concentrate on their weaknesses or fear, they develop and harness their strengths (2 Timothy 1:7 - “For GOD has not given us a spirit of fear, but one of love, power and sound judgement”). For example if I was to learn how to play tennis and practice daily, I could become quite good at it and become a worthy opponent thus gaining confidence, but when it comes to selling treatments and breaking down walls with my clients; I’m extremely great at it. Talking to people, understanding and reading what they are thinking (in my professional job) is a skill set that has come naturally. I have had to develop and harness it into greatness making me a confident woman in my job role that I can even do it in my sleep. If you look at it this way; then ask yourself, “what are my strengths? "and if you cannot answer this question then ask God to show you. Pray and fast for a revelation! There is revelation power in prayer and fasting ,when you spend time with the Lord He will reveal deep things to you, like He did for many in the Scriptures, like Moses. (Exodus 34:28 - “Moses was there with the Lord for forty days and forty nights without eating bread or drinking water. And he wrote on the tablets the words of the covenant—the Ten Commandments”).To learn more about fasting and prayer click here and here.

One of the most confident women we find in the bible is Esther. She rescued her people from death at the hands of an evil and hateful man. Though her beauty didn’t go unnoticed, it was her character and her confidence that helped her find favour in the eyes of the king. She took a great risk when she made her way into Xerxes inner court uninvited. But God honoured her and the prayers that the other Jews were praying,(Esther 4:48-58 - “ 48 And upon the third day, when she had ended her prayers, she laid away her mourning garments, and put on her glorious apparel. 49 And being gloriously adorned, after she had called upon God, who is the beholder and Saviour of all things, she took two maids with her: 50 And upon the one she leaned, as carrying herself daintily; 51 And the other followed, bearing up her train. 52 And she was ruddy through the perfection of her beauty, and her countenance was cheerful and very amiable: but her heart was in anguish for fear. 53 Then having passed through all the doors, she stood before the king, who sat upon his royal throne, and was clothed with all his robes of majesty, all glittering with gold and precious stones; and he was very dreadful. 54 Then lifting up his countenance that shone with majesty, he looked very fiercely upon her: and the queen fell down, and was pale, and fainted, and bowed herself upon the head of the maid that went before her 55 Then God changed the spirit of the king into mildness, who in a fear leaped from his throne, and took her in his arms, till she came to herself again, and comforted her with loving words and said unto her, 56 Esther, what is the matter? I am thy brother, be of good cheer: 57 Thou shalt not die, though our commandment be general: come near. 58 And so be held up his golden sceptre, and laid it upon her neck.“) and Xerxes received her warmly. In the end, Esther saved her people from perishing.

Confidence is holding onto a strong Faith in God, a faith that is backed up with a complete knowledge and understanding that with God All things are possible. Yahweh can help you do anything and everything (Hebrews 11:1 - “ Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see”) Knowing that the Lord is with You , you only need to be still (Psalm 46:10 “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.”)Believe and trust in God as His word says in (John 7:38 “The one who believes in me, as the Scripture has said, will have streams of living water flow from deep within him”.) (Romans 10:9 “If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved.")A confident woman has faith in the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:7 “ For we live by faith, not by sight”). Fear brings a lack of confidence in God and in yourself. It is destructive. As a woman, you can do amazing things, but first you will have to become confident, confident in God and confident in you. Replace your fears with confidence and watch what God can do. God ALWAYS does His part, making seemingly impossible things POSSIBLE! HALLELUJAH! Confidence and Faith work hand in hand. One of my favourite verses as a strong powerful woman who trusts and has faith in God and is led by Him daily is;
Psalms 46:5 “God is within her, She will not fail, God will help her at day break”
If I am walking in my purpose, knowing I am covered by the Most High, He is within me? Why would I not be confident? Who is greater than God that is inside me? The Word of God says in 1 John 4:4 You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world. God says it, I believe it and that settles it.
Prayer
My Heavenly Father, Lord, with Your help, Esther saved her people and with Your help, I can do the impossible. I look forward to the great things You are going to do in my life. Lord I want to learn to lean upon and be confident in You, I know that it is also possible for me. I come to You as Your child, You are my Father the one I run to, when I am broken, hurt and confused. Lord today I come to You, asking You to give me the ability to recognise, develop and enhance my strengths rather than concentrating on my weaknesses. Lord May You unlock what is locked in me, May You guide me in this new journey I’m about to discover, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ I Pray, Amen.

What have we learnt from Esther and about being a confident woman?
1. We must be willing to rise up when God places us in a position of influence and use every opportunity to promote God and protect His people. He has a plan for our lives.
2. We should not remain silent when anyone threatens the safety of other people, especially God’s people.
3. God uses people who are not believers, like King Xerces, to carry out His will.
4. Fasting and prayer is important.
5. Be courageous and willing to sacrifice your life to help others.
6. Trust God’s timing.
7. Do not seek recognition. Let God choose how to honor you and when.
8. Trust and obey God in spite of any circumstances.
