Wop Devotional : Our Love for God

Hello and welcome to the wonderful month of February 2021. We give God all the glory for His faithfulness, mercy and protection , He has allowed us to see a new month, Amen. I personally don’t take it for granted especially in the season that we are in where nearly every day we are hearing news that somebody we know has passed away especially due to Covid-19. As per usual You will need a journal / notebook /diary / pens and markers. This month our weekly devotional is going to focus on Love and today’s topic is : Our Love For God. Most of the times we hear about how much God loves us. When we open our bibles , when we listen to sermons, when we read Christian Blogs , watch Christian Vlogs, Christian TV stations, Christian movies and when we read Christian books and so on. From Sunday school we heard about John 3:16,

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son so that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. Even non-believers know about this bible verse and can tell you to the T , because at some point in their lives they have come across it. We have heard of how much God loves us throughout His Holy Word.

Psalm 136:26

26 Give thanks to the God of heaven. His love endures forever.

I remember in Sunday school there was a song that we sang about God’s love.

God’s Love is so wonderful,

Oh! Wonderful love!

So high you can’t get over it,

Oh! Wonderful love!

So deep you can’t get under it,

Oh! Wonderful love!

So wide you can’t get around it,

Oh! Wonderful love!

The fact that we are breathing now is just a testament to how much God loves us, with all our flaws.

So my question for you today is do you love God? I bet you said yes huh? What does God say? Does your life reflect your love for Him? Do you openly and boldly declare that He is I am that I am to people around you even though they don’t believe in God? Or are you are afraid to lose your job, friends, money, business , partner or following because of your faith? Are you proud to say that you believe in God and don’t care who knows or are you one of those people who hide their faith? The bible says in Luke 10:27 And he answered, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself.” I remember there was a story about an infamous flight attendant who was fired for wearing her cross and when they asked her to remove it she refused to do so because it resembled her faith and boldly stated she will not let anyone force her to forsake her faith. Are you Souled out for God as she was and hopefully still is? Do you have a relationship with Him or you just talk to Him when you are in trouble? Do you have time set aside daily where you go and talk to Him because You love Him? The same way you have a relationship with your spouse, dad , mom and siblings ,children and friends that you call to check in, you want to spend time with them, you are always thinking of them, you communicate with them, even getting them gifts etc is that the same relationship you have with God? Again I ask , Do you love God? Sadly this is what we see more of now.

2 Timothy 3:1-5

The Dangers of the Last Days

3 You should know this, Timothy, that in the last days there will be very difficult times. 2 For people will love only themselves and their money. They will be boastful and proud, scoffing at God, disobedient to their parents, and ungrateful. They will consider nothing sacred. 3 They will be unloving and unforgiving; they will slander others and have no self-control. They will be cruel and hate what is good. 4 They will betray their friends, be reckless, be puffed up with pride, and love pleasure rather than God. 5 They will act religious, but they will reject the power that could make them godly. Stay away from people like that!

Women of Prayer has had many hate mail , messages and comments from people who have boldly stated that we are foolish to believe that there is God and we are brainwashed et cetera but like we always respond boldly and proudly that we believe in the Almighty God. We believe in Jesus Christ and we believe in the Holy Spirit. We have had emails from social media platforms telling us not to post certain content because it’s offensive to those who don’t believe in the same faith and yet we see filthy and dirty things on social media with thousands of views and the social media platforms have not removed those posts. We have reported these issue to social media complaints department about the bullying and harassment and nothing has been done about these accounts and they’re still running which is why we are working so hard to have our own mobile app where we can PROFESS our Faith boldly and not be bullied or restricted. We are proud of who we are as Christians and what we stand for as a community. We believe in God the Father ,God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. We believe in the Bible ,angels and everything that the Lord has revealed in His Holy Word and His revelations to us as a group and also individually. Women of Prayer love God and we are sold out for God .I love God and I am sold out for God.

So today I want to challenge you to ask yourself if you really love God. Search yourself and write done everything that you are feeling as you ask yourself this question. Be honest with yourself ,this is your raw truth .Reflect on it and ask the Holy Spirit to help you to be honest. Whether you know the areas that you need to repent or not , take them to the Lord in Prayer and ask Him to forgive you and help you through His Holy Spirit. God loves us so much and He just wants us to love Him and have a relationship with us.

Bible verses: Deuteronomy 6.5, 10:12, Mark 12:30, Psalms 31: 23

Prayer

Dear Lord thank You for loving me. Give me a new heart to know You, love You and do Your will in my life. Write Your laws in my heart and help me to obey Your commandments so that I may know You and love You with all my heart, my soul, in my mind. Father I long to love You above all things and above anyone. Place in my heart Your desires and will for my life and help me to make them come to pass in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.

Reflection (write down your thoughts)
