Hello and welcome to another Devotional. We give God all the glory for His love, promises ,faithfulness, grace ,mercy and protection. You will need a journal / notebook /diary / pens and markers. This month our Devotional Topic is : A Pure Heart. Matthew 5:8 states Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see God. I believe we all desire to see God, we long for His presence, specially to have an encounter with Him is on the top list of most believers. The question is how then does one have a pure heart in order to see God? As Matthew said in the opening scripture. Indeed, the presence of the Lord is not for everyone as explained by Psalm 24: 3-4 which says “Who shall ascend the hill of the Lord? And who shall stand in His holy place? He who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not lift up his soul to what is false and does not swear deceitfully”. The word of God gives us many ways to purify our heart before the Lord which may seem unachievable to the carnal mind but these ways are only possible with the help of the Holy Spirit.
Firstly, we are taught to ask for a clean heart in Psalm 51:10 “Create in me a clean heart Oh God, renew the right spirit within me”. We pray that may the words of our mouth and the meditation of our hearts be acceptable in your sight Oh LORD. Only Him can grant us this purity, a heart without heaviness, pain, bitterness, anger, unforgiveness, malice and all evil thoughts so that we maybe purified in Him. He is the Lord who is willing to give us all things ungrudgingly so let’s continuously ask Him for a pure heart, may He purge us with hyssop that we maybe clean.
Secondly, we obtain a pure heart from our deeds, 2 Timothy 2:22 says, so flee youthful passions and pursue righteousness, faith, love and peace along with those who call on the Lord from a pure heart. This means our youthful desires and behaviors can defile our purity, we must be cautious and eliminate any unholy activities in our lives. James 4:8 says Draw near to God and He shall draw near to you. Cleanse your hands you sinners and purify your hearts you double minded men. This verse instructs us to act, working for our own purity by having a very close relationship with God, by repenting of all sins that we are clinging on and most importantly be focused on God alone as your one and only Savior. We can not be undecided, one day you are praying and believing in God and the next minute when situation changes you’re now with the palm readers, psychics ,witchdoctors, no no that is not acceptable as believers.
I ask you all Women of Prayer (WoP) to take time to be with God, ask for forgiveness, develop a deep relationship with God. The more of His Spirit in you removes all the bad and ugly spirits afflicting you and eventually you will be having a pure heart that is acceptable before Him. That purity allows Him to show Himself to you in mighty ways that no ear has heard, no eye has seen. 1 Corinthians 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. May the Lord help us to purify our hearts each day in our walk with Christ.
Prayer
Dear Lord, Thank you for the gift of the Holy Spirit our Teacher. We pray that He may teach to forsake all the ways that may tarnish our relationship with you. We pray for guidance and wisdom to discern right from wrong so that we may be truly righteous before you because you said that you look on the heart not the appearance. We thank you Lord for the grace to learn your ways and submit to your authority each day, in Jesus name we pray. Amen
REMAIN BLESSED.
