The Lord’s covenant of mercy

Hello and a very happy Monday to you all. I pray that all is well with you and your household. In Christianity we don’t talk a lot about covenants as often as we should really. Covenants are one of the most important themes in the Bible and are the key to God’s redemptive plan to restore humanity to its divine calling. This theme is common in the scriptures from Genesis to Revelations, Jehovah enters into covenants with various people such as Abraham, Moses, David in order to rescue His people. These covenants drive the narrative forward until it reaches its the new covenant with Jesus Christ. In the new covenant, we receive the forgiveness of sins and God’s empowering Spirit to help us live lives full of giving love.

So what is a covenant?

A covenant is a relationship between two people who make binding promises to each other and work together to reach a common goal. They are often accompanied by oaths, signs, and ceremonies. Covenants define obligations and commitments, but they are different from a contract because they are relational and personal. Think of a marriage a husband and wife choose to enter into a formal covenant relationship, binding themselves to one another in lifelong faithfulness and devotion. They then work as partners to reach a common goal, like building a life or raising children together.

Scriptures

Let us then with confidence draw near to the throne of grace, that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.

Romans 9:15

For He says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.”

Deuteronomy 4:31

For the Lord your God is a compassionate God; He will not fail you nor destroy you nor forget the covenant with your fathers which He swore to them.

Today I am just checking in to enlighten and assure women of God here of the covenant The Lord has made with us. We are going to personalize this chapter as the Lord speaks over Jerusalem, taking in consideration that He refers this nation as “her” so it is unto us women the ‘Hers’ and ‘Shes’. Isaiah 54 vs 1 instructs us to Sing and rejoice O barren, break forth into praises and joy in the Lord for many are the children of the desolate than those of the married woman. That simply means your fruits are more than those who may seem to have been deserving. Single parents this one is for you, blessed and fruitful is your labour , so don't be discouraged. God blesses all women and that includes those who are married, those who are single, those who are engaged, widowed, divorced, ALL WOMEN.So don’t be discouraged because your portion is there in the Word of God.

Verse 2 and 3, “Enlarge the place of your tent and let them stretch out the curtains of your dwellings. Do not spare, lengthen your cords and stretch forth your stakes. For you shall expand to the right and to the left and your descendants will inherit the nations and make desolate cities inhabited!

Woman expand your horizon! Dare to dream again! Be expectant from God! Expand your horizon, do not put any limitations on God! Start that project, start that course, degree, masters or certification you always want. Look around for how much the houses cost, yes go on around checking how much a wedding dress cost, check the venues, check that car you want how much it costs yes, you can have it. The Lord said you shall expand on both sides and your generation will own nations, that means you are wealthy!

Verse 4 to 6, “Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed neither be disgraced, for you will not be put to shame. For you will forget the shame of your youth and will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. For your Maker is your husband. The Lord of Hosts is His name and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel. He has called you like the woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a youthful wife when you were refused” says your God.

I can just stop now since this says it all. The Lord is there for us, His love and mercies are renewed every morning. Pause and think for example, of your Presidents wife, you know when you are related to the President you can get your way in anything you may desire in that country and beyond is it? Even those who are of the extended family of the President they get their fare share of respect in their circles of influence. In this case, you are the wife of the One and Only Most High God who has power to command the waters and they separate, command the lions to see you as one of their own and not eat you as Daniel, he made the fire powerless with Shadreck, Misheck and Abednego and He appeared in the fire for His name to be honoured. He commanded the ravens (birds of the air) to feed Elijah whilst in the wilderness, who cooked that food, who baked the bread and fried the meat?? That God is your husband, He has called you by His name that means your surname is not an ordinary one. You are from the royals, the King of Kings is your Father.

Take authority, take charge of the identity you have in the Lord and in Christ Jesus. The Lord is able to make all things possible for you. Verse 9b to 10…”so I have sworn that I would not be angry at you. For the mountains shall depart and the hills be removed but my kindness shall not depart from you not shall my covenant of peace be removed from you,” says the Lord who has mercy on you. This is the covenant He has made with us! He has promised to never leave us nor forsake us. Be encouraged today child of God. Trust and obey the Lord. He loves you and His promises are yes and amen, live your life in holiness, present your bodies holy and acceptable before Him. Remember to always pray using Psalm 51 for we have all sinned and fallen short of His glory and Psalm 91 for protection.

Prayer

Dear Lord, I present myself to You as I am. I thank You for loving me and giving me the inheritance in Christ Jesus. Help me Lord to be conscious of my position in Your kingdom and never limit Your power to save, to deliver and provide all that I desire in Jesus' name. Thank You Lord for Your mercy and Your grace that is always sufficient and sustains us each day, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
